OWI

Drinking and Driving, in Indiana, is generally called an OWI: Operating While Intoxicated (OWI). Other common names are Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driving While Intoxicated (DWI).

First Offense

If you have no prior convictions, you will most likely have to pay court costs and fees in the excess of $300. You may recieve jail time of up to one year and have to pay a fine of up to $5000. Your license may be suspended for anywhere between 90 days and up to two years.

Second Offense

If this is your second offense, you could face jail time of five days or up to three years and be required to perform community service. You may also face a fine of up to $10,000 and your license may be suspended for 180 days up to 2 years.

Third Offense

If this is your third offense, you may face jail time of 10 days to three years and be required to perform community service. You could also face a fine of up to $10,000 and have your license suspended for atleast one year with the potential of it being suspended up to 10 years.
