Misdemeanors

In Indiana, misdemeanors are a serious criminal charge. They are generally less serious than felony charges but are more serious than citations or infractions. Examples of misdemeanors are a first OWI/DUI/DWI offense, theft, certain amounts of drug possession, battery, and certain driving violations.

There are three different levels of misdemeanors in Indiana:

A Misdemeanor: Up to 1 year in jail and up to a $5,000 fine

B Misdemeanor: Up to 180 days in jail and a $1,000 fine

C Misdemeanor: Up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine

Some misdemeanors will allow a negotiated sentence and suspended jail time in exchange for receiving probation. It is important to have an attorney with you every step of the way. Call Woolard Legal today!
